Young Indian Men Shaving Off Mustaches

According to Washington Post article "New generation of men in India shaving off mustaches" a survey found that 72 percent of the women who responded in Mumbai and 83 percent of those surveyed in the southern city of Chennai said they were more likely to want to kiss a cleanshaven man. The numbers were similar in New Delhi, India's capital, and in the eastern city of Kolkata, often seen as a center of tradition.

  • Kiran Kuchimanchi, senior vice president, Global Delivery, ValueLabs, says youth in India is extremely mobile savvy and will be the early adopters of the 3G services.  Read the interview with him here.  ValueLabs, a company that has been in the mobile space for the last eight years, is actively involved in the telecom sector building Intellectual Property (IP) in the areas of mobile video streaming, data services and other value-added services in 2.5G and 3G environments. #
  • According to Times of India Article, titled More Young MPs in new Lok Sabha, there are 79 members aged less than 40 years. Lok Sabha has a higher number of under-40 members compared with the last.  The representation of women members has crossed the 10% mark for the first time in Indian history. However, this is still low in comparison with parliaments of the industrialized countries. For instance, UK, USA, Italy, Ireland and France have 19.3%, 16.3%, 16.1%, 14.2% and 13.9% women parliamentarians, respectively. #
  • Facebook is planning on having a version in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.   Right now Facebook has 200 million users.  By including more Indian languages they expect to bring in more users. Read more here. #
